On May 8, a meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, took place in Moscow as part of the program of events in the Russian capital. At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state exchanged warm congratulations on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Victory.

As the press service reported, the sides discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance in the context of the practical implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level contacts. They noted with satisfaction the steady growth in trade volumes and the successful implementation of projects in industry, energy, metallurgy, and other sectors.

Separately, the importance of adopting coordinated measures to maintain the momentum of trade turnover and accelerate cooperation projects in priority sectors, as well as continuing active contacts at the regional level, was emphasized. In addition, special attention was paid to further ensuring intensive cultural and humanitarian exchange; the leaders also exchanged views on issues on the international agenda.
