In Denau district of Surkhandarya region, during a kurash competition, the region’s well-known pahlavan Nizomiddin Chutboyev was fatally wounded.

According to reports by Kun.uz, the incident occurred on May 9 at around 14:30 at the stadium of the medical technical school in the city of Denau. After Chutboyev’s son defeated Bustanbek Jabborov, it is reported that the elder brother of the проигравшего — Doston Jabborov — approached Nizomiddin Chutboyev from behind and stabbed him several times.

The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that the victim was taken to hospital in serious condition, but his life could not be saved. According to preliminary forensic medical examination data, Chutboyev sustained four serious stab wounds.

The Denau district prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case under пункту «л» of part 2 of article 97 of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder motivated by hooliganism). The suspect has been detained and investigative actions are ongoing. According to a source, Doston Jabborov had previously been convicted.
