An incident of poaching was stopped in the Kashkadarya region: in the Shahrisabz district, a man illegally caught 412 Amu Darya trout listed in Uzbekistan’s Red Book in the Tankhoz River, as well as 6 common crucian carp. As reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the damage caused to nature amounted to 12,749,340,000 soums.

The violation was uncovered by employees of the district подразделение of the regional ecology department together with officers of the district police department. According to the agency, the poacher’s actions were classified as violations of the requirements of a number of regulatory acts, including the laws on environmental control, nature protection and wildlife, as well as Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 80 of February 9, 2024, which approved the rules for fishing in the country’s natural water bodies. 

The ministry reminded that during the spawning period a seasonal ban on fishing is in effect. Case materials have been sent to the Kashkadarya Regional Prosecutor’s Office for action.
