The World Chess Championship match between reigning titleholder Gukesh Dommaraju (India) and Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov will take place from November 23 to December 17, 2026. The FIDE press service reported this in a post on the official website.

At the same time, FIDE announced the start of accepting bids for the right to host the match. The minimum prize fund for the contest is set at $2.5 million.

In April, Javokhir Sindarov secured an early victory in the Candidates Tournament held in Cyprus, thereby earning the right to play Dommaraju. The Indian chess player became world champion in December 2024, defeating Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren.
