On April 30 at around 20:00 in Tashkent (Yunusabad, 15th квартал, Akhmat Danish mahalla), witnesses filmed teenagers carrying an owl upside down, tied by its legs. One of the teenagers claimed he had supposedly “bought” the bird. The video was forwarded to specialists at the Tashkent Zoo.
Zoologists determined that the footage shows an eagle owl chick, a species listed in the Red Book. Removing such animals from the wild and keeping them outside specialized conditions is unacceptable without legal grounds and competent care.
Later, the bird was found on the ground, tied with a rope, and was handed over to the Tashkent Zoo. The chick is under observation; specialists are assessing its condition and further measures for care and rehabilitation.
